8. Hiking

The town has a large network of signposted paths that give you the chance to hike or cycle different routes.  You can walk on the coastal path along the cliffs and coves or discover the Gavarres and Ardenya massif through their paths.

The landscape of the area and its contrasts -typical Mediterranean – are one of the tourist attractions of the town. Sant Feliu is surrounded by large natural areas such as Gavarres and Ardenya massif, which have many signposted paths that helps you to discover the surroundings.

Some walks, viewpoints and routes are ideal for families, others are more complex.

The main routes are:

THE COASTAL PATH TO SANT POL

The coastal path to Sant Pol starts at the top of a cliff over the harbour and goes to Sant Pol beach.

The route passes by beautiful coves and cliffs like Cap de Mort, la Cala del Peix or the little sandy bay Cala Maset.

In the part that goes from Punta de Garbí to Les Penyes, passing through Cala del Vigatà, there is no a costal path. In Les Planetes and Port Salvi we will enjoy some splendid views and pass by rocky points and coves. In Les Penyes we will discover lush vegetation. The cliffs of Les Penyes, more than 50 meters high, are among the most spectacular on the Costa Brava.

POINTS OF NATURAL INTEREST

Cala Urgell viewpoint

It is a viewpoint from where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the Punta d'en Bosch and Cala Urgell, one of the most beautiful spots on Sant Feliu de Guíxols coast.

Sant Elm hermitage viewpoint

We’ll have a large view from Sant Elm, from Tossa to Begur, from the sea to the mountains. From this spot, Ferran Agulló named the coast Costa Brava in 1908.

Les bateries viewpoint

This spot is called bateries because the anti-aircraft batteries of the republican army were placed there during the civil war. We can still see the concrete structure, from where we’ll have an excellent view over Sant Feliu beach and the Ardenya.

Sant Benet viewpoint

Very close to the old Sant Benet masia (country house), there is a viewpoint from where we can enjoy a magnificent view over the sea and the coast of San Feliu.

Cal Romaguer or Divina Pastora viewpoint

Cal Romaguer is an old abandoned masia (country house), the remains of an old rural settlement that lived in scattered masies in the Ardenya as scattered farmhouses. From there, we’ll enjoy magnificent views of the sea.

Molí de les Forques viewpoint

At the top of Molí de les Forques , which was called like this because during the eighteenth century the bodies of the executed hung there, we’ll find a stone base of an old mill. From there, we’ll enjoy a spectacular view over Cala Ametller and Sant Feliu beach.

Puig Gros viewpoint

From Puig Gros, we can see a great part of the Ardenya and its steep coastline, as well as Sant Feliu beach.

L’Àliga viewpoint (Puig Romaguer)

This viewpoint is located on top of Puig Romaguer. We find an orientation table there, where the visitor can be informed of the names of the landscape.

There is a self-guiding Application for smart phones to know the paths and itineraries of the town. It is an easy, fast and practical way to enjoy our routes:
